Barrow-Agee Laboratories continued to make investments in 2019 to support our commitment to meeting our customers’ needs for high-quality results, on-time every time. Our technology is taking a step forward to improve processes and customer service, we’ve brought on new and experienced talent, and we have extended training to reinforce what we need to do to better our customers’ experiences. Here’s our end-of-the-year laboratory review.
In the spring of 2019, we launched a brand new website to help better showcase the services we offer. The new site, in addition to the ongoing industry-related blog content and laboratory news, provides information on the industries Barrow serves.
Additionally, in the final quarter of the year, we launched, Barrow-Agee Laboratories Testing Services Listed A-Z, which enables our customers to easily identify which types of tests we provided. The easy, sortable list is listed alphabetically for convenience and contains the code, unit, and method of each.
Putting the testing services on the site gives our customers better transparency when it comes to what we are capable of doing in the lab. Beyond that, we encourage everyone who is looking for sample testing to contact us if what they were looking for is missing. We still may be able to help!
On the technology front, Barrow-Agee is excited to announce we will be installing an updated Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). The new WinLims system is equipped to expand on current capabilities and provide better reporting, more streamlined user experiences, immediate access to results, and more. We’re excited about its implementation in Spring 2020.
Over the course of the year, Barrow had made significant hires throughout the company to set our team up for long term success.
Greg Crosby was named Chief Financial Officer earlier this year. Crosby came to Barrow-Agee with food processing and agriculture industry experience and has been working alongside Roger Beers, CEO of Barrow-Agee Laboratories, to uphold our commitment to quality assurance and excellence.
Another new hire for the year was our new Lab Director, Lisa Leier. Bringing more than 20 years of experience to Barrow-Agee, Leier is responsible for the operations of all of our labs and ensures we are providing customers with on-time, high-quality results with better, more accurate data. She brings an innovative mindset to our 100+ year business and pushes us to think differently every day.
Barrow also recently added Tabitha Cotton to the team as the new Customer Service Manager. Cotton is responsible for handling the full customer experience with the lab and organization as we enter 2020 with the new LIMS system and more.

With Leier in the driver’s seat as lab director, she brings with her years of experience and a forward-thinking innovative mindset to create better processes for the lab. Under her supervision and training, the lab has already cut down on rework and has reduced turnaround times for customers.
The LIMS system is on the current trajectory to be fully implemented by the end of the first quarter. While the new technology will speed up processes, our team will be trained on the new system to ensure the transition runs smoothly as to not impact our customers in any way.
Cotton will head the training in the customer service department to reassure that no matter who you’re working with at our lab, you’re guaranteed excellent service. Her role and training will reinforce our ultimate goal of delivering test results on-time, every time.
