LPP Feature Showcases Proximate Testing Excellence
Barrow-Agee Laboratories is a long-standing member of the American Oil Chemists’ Society (AOCS) dating back to the lab’s inception in 1917. In May, we were interviewed and featured by the AOCS magazine Inform about why working with a Laboratory Proficiency Program (LPP) has been so beneficial to us.
The LPP allows labs, like Barrow-Agee, to see how well they perform against more than 500 participants in proximate testing. The value in the program goes beyond just showing labs that they are doing their jobs well — it proves it to their customers, too. The LPP also allows scientists to measure how well their instruments are performing — and the opportunity to correct an issue if something is wrong.
For Barrow-Agee Laboratories, being a multigenerational facility for more than 100 years means that we have seen quite a few advances in technology, methods, and even changes to ownership and leadership. The one thing that has remained a constant is the staple of the AOCS Laboratory Proficiency Program as a valuable tool for Barrow-Agee Laboratories by assisting our pursuit of providing our customers with accurate, timely testing services.
The LPP has its sights set on the future with a new series of analyses coming along as well as exploring areas that need new standardized methods.
