Barrow-Agee Laboratories is an ISO/IEC 17025:2017 (Cert# 3250.01) accredited laboratory, and maintains a documented Quality Manual that describes our Quality Policy, organizational structure, and policies, including document control, training, methodology, measurement traceability, and processing of test items.

We are pleased to make our Quality Manual available for review onsite. The Quality Manual is a controlled document and we do not release copies for review outside of our facility. Please contact us to set up an appointment or to learn more.

Barrow-Agee Laboratories is ISO/IEC 17025:2017 (Cert# 3250.01) accredited by A2LA for microbiology, metals, mercury, pesticide residues, and drug residues, and is accredited by the USDA for the determination of chlorinated hydrocarbon pesticide residues. We are an AOCS Certified Laboratory and a Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Certified Laboratory. In addition, we are an FDA registered establishment. You can review all of our certifications and accreditations here.

Management reviews are conducted annually and actively support the company’s Quality Policy by reviewing proficiency program reports, internal and external audits, corrective actions, customer feedback, employee training, and capacity for analysis. Barrow-Agee Laboratories recognizes that quality is a vital component of a successful business plan.

Barrow-Agee Laboratories has a formal policy for documentation of complaints, including root cause analysis, corrective action, and preventive action. Please note that a $50.00 fee may apply for a documented Corrective Action Report/Out of Specification report.

Barrow-Agee Laboratories participates in the AAFCO Feed Check Sample Program, the AOCS Smalley Series (Oilseed Meal and Soybean Oil), the USDA Accredited Laboratory Program (Chlorinated Pesticides), the Canadian Food Inspection Agency Proficiency Program (antibiotic and beta-agonist residues) and the American Proficiency Institute (API) Microbiology series.

Upon review of the client’s request by the management team and upon approval by the Quality Officer, Barrow-Agee Laboratories will conduct analysis to meet cGMP guidelines, including the use of client-requested, validated methodology, document traceability, and personnel qualifications. Please contact us if you would like to learn more about this service.

We request that our sample submission form is used when sending samples. You can download the form here. Alternately, our clients may use their own submission paperwork on their company letterhead. We recommend that perishable samples be shipped by overnight courier in an insulated shipping container with ice to maintain 2-10°C. Microbiological samples should be shipped overnight in coolers with ice packs to maintain a refrigerated temperature of <10º C (< 50º F). For the best service, please select 8:00 am delivery for overnight shipments. Samples need to be clearly identified in indelible ink and may be contained in appropriate glass, metal, whirl-pak, or plastic containers. Paper documents identifying the samples should be enclosed in plastic (e.g., zip-lock or whirl-pak bag) to protect the paperwork from moisture or contact with the samples.

The client is notified upon receipt of the sample(s) if the paperwork does not clearly describe the requested analysis or does not completely identify the samples submitted. In addition to that, the client is notified if the sample arrives in a thermally abused manner or if the integrity of the sample container is disturbed.

Perishable samples are stored frozen or refrigerated for 30 days. Non-perishable samples are stored at room temperature for 30 days. Sample storage greater than 30 days is available upon request and may result in a fee for long term sample storage. The laboratory maintains secure access 24 hours per day and is monitored by a security alarm after hours. Only trained, authorized personnel come in contact with the samples. In cases where more stringent custody requirements are required, sample custody procedures will be discussed with the client before sample submittal, and a “Chain of Custody Record” form will be utilized until completion of the analysis and reporting of the analytical results has occurred.

Our standard service time for most chemistry analyses is within five business days (M–F) from the time of receipt of the sample. Microbiology testing is started the day samples are received and time to result is limited by method-required incubation times. Exceptions to this service will occur for non-routine sample preparation, non-routine analysis, and outsourced testing.

We offer several options for priority service on many of our chemistry testing offerings, including one and two-day service options. For optimum priority service, please choose Priority 8:00 AM delivery for your shipping. A surcharge will apply to rush service to account for the additional labor to process expedited analysis. Please note that some analysis (e.g., microbiological assays) cannot be completed using priority service.

Official results will be sent by email in PDF format by default unless otherwise instructed. Upon request, Barrow-Agee Laboratories provides fax copies of the official results at no extra charge. Verbal communication of results are provided upon request, but are considered unofficial until the signed Certificate of Analysis is reported to the client. Barrow-Agee Laboratories makes every effort to consider other requests for specialized reporting and extra charges may apply depending on the complexity of the request.

There is no charge for reprinting archived reports within 90 days of original reporting date or for a revised report that is the result of a correction by Barrow-Agee Laboratories. A report fee of $25.00 is charged for any report that is revised to include information that is supplied by the client after the Certificate of Analysis is reported, for the reproduction of any report from our data archive after 90 days from the original report date, or for a non-routine report. A report fee of $150.00 is charged for the review, preparation, and reproduction of raw data (chromatograms, spectrophotometric data, notebook data, or other printed documentation) for submittal to clients.

There is a $10.00 per sample fee for the documentation of Certified Laboratory results on the official FDACS report form.
