A Legacy Rooted in Agricultural Testing
For more than 100 years, Barrow-Agee Laboratories has been supporting the agricultural industry with advanced, rapid testing services covering everything from fats and oils to antibiotic residues and beyond. One of the ways we’ve continued providing this industry with accurate, on-time testing is through participation in laboratory proficiency testing.
As members of the American Oil Chemists’ Society (AOCS) and the National Oilseed Processors Association (NOPA) and as an AOCS Certified Lab, we regularly participate in the AOCS Laboratory Proficiency Program (LPP), which provides an opportunity for more than 500 chemists to demonstrate their quality control capabilities.
Consisting of testing covering more than 40 specific series including aflatoxin, cholesterol, nutritional labeling, and guaranteed analysis testing on multiple matrices, this laboratory proficiency testing program allows participants to analyze samples using AOCS methods and submit them to have the results compared against other labs.
Our Team is the Cream of the Crop
We’re pleased to announce that AOCS has recognized Barrow-Agee Laboratories as being among the top 10% of analysts in our field.
According to AOCS: “Barrow-Agee has supported the agricultural trade community for over a century. They have been strong supporters of the AOCS Laboratory Proficiency Program because it provides a benchmark for contract laboratories to ensure the most reliable, repeatable, and timely results to their customers.”
To be eligible for the Laboratory Proficiency Program Approved Chemist Status, participants must be enrolled in the program for four consecutive quarters. Each quarter, AOCS ships samples to program participants who have around one and a half months to complete their sample analyses and submit them back to AOCS for assessment. The results are reported back to participants around three months later. At the end of the AOCS calendar year, the results are announced.
