November 18, 2019 — Memphis, Tennessee — Barrow-Agee Laboratories, a Memphis, Tennessee-based laboratory testing services provider, is pleased to announce the hiring of Lisa Leier as its new Lab Director.
Leier began working with Barrow-Agee Laboratories in a consulting role before becoming the lab’s full-time director. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience in new technologies and the ability to innovate in the Biotechnology and Laboratory arena.
Prior to joining the lab, Leier worked at Lonza for nearly four years, where she was a part of a team that developed novel Ribosomal ribonucleic acid (rRNA) methods for total aerobic plate counts and yeast and mold. This breakthrough, as well as others, has been accredited to changing food safety sciences.
Leier also worked on some novel applications with a client in which changed the way salmonella was tested in meat. These projects have given Leier the experience and knowledge required in order to assist with the growth of the Barrow lab by bringing on more rapid testing methods, which will shorten the turnaround time for samples by more than one day.
Her innovative mindset and her strength in training teams made Leier the right person for the job. As Barrow-Agee continues to invest in growth, her background will help assist the lab in ensuring customers get better, more accurate data at a quicker turnaround rate. The changes and trainings Leier has already initiated in the lab have helped reduce the need for rework, which tightened up the process to help execute delivering timely results and high-quality customer service.
“Adding Lisa to the team as our Lab Director to run the operations aligns with our ongoing goal of delivering test results on-time, every time. Her work experience is a testament to her knowledge, and as a consultant, she has proven she would be the perfect asset to our laboratory. We are happy to have her join our team,” said Roger Beers, Barrow-Agee Laboratories CEO.
“I am thrilled to become the new Lab Director at Barrow-Agee during such an exciting time,” said Leier. She continued, “With the focus at Barrow on increased investment in technologies, talent, and training, I feel like I can add significant value to help meet customer expectations of high-quality results on-time, every time.”
